Council Member Wise introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #11 -06 -120 <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING THE POLICY <br />FOR APPOINTING BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council would like its practices and written policies for <br />appointing board and commission members to be efficient and effective; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council would like applicants to experience a welcoming , less <br />formal interview. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />Motion to approve resolution # 11- 06 -XXX to amend the Policy for Appointing Board and <br />Commission Members as follows: <br />1. Advertising: If it becomes necessary to fill an unexpected vacancy (one that occurs <br />prior to the normal term ending date) an ad will be published in the Ramsey Resident <br />only once. All other vacancies that occur (due to normal term ending dates) will be <br />advertised in the Ramsey Resident twice. other advertising sources will be utilized as <br />appropriate. <br />2. Interview Questions: Staff will revise future board and commission interview <br />questions to more accurately identify each applicant's knowledge, skills, and abilities <br />based on the qualifications identified as necessary and the benefits that the applicant, if <br />appointed, may bring to the board or commission in the future. <br />3. Interview Format: Applicants will be invited to a short open house prior to the board <br />and commission interviews. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Backous, <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Wise <br />Councilmember Backous <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Tossey <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />and the following abstained: <br />None <br />
