Options were to make a profit, cover only the City's costs, or <br /> assume marginal costs to provide service to Nowthen. <br /> Councilmember Elvig suggested the Council receive input from the City's police management <br /> and officers and ask whether it is something they want to do. <br /> Councilmember Tossey felt the City should go ahead and do it. He noted that with the last <br /> proposal there was some perceived pressure to not compete with the Sheriff's Department but <br /> that may no longer be the case. <br /> Mayor Ramsey supported having a low cost because of the benefit of having a mutual contract <br /> with Nowthen and because it helps Ramsey cover its northern end. <br /> The Council consensus was to invite the Police Chief to the next Work Session to provide his <br /> opinion and for staff to present cost estimates. <br /> MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br /> None <br /> City Council Work Session / October 18, 2011 <br /> Page 10 of 11 <br />
