Councilmember Backous introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #11 -08 -141 <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 17 — 23, 2011 AS CONSTITUTION <br />WEEK <br />WHEREAS, our Founding Fathers, in order to secure the blessings of liberty for <br />themselves and their posterity, did ordain and establish a Constitution for the United States; and <br />WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens fully understand the provisions and <br />principles contained in the Constitution in order to effectively support, preserve and defend <br />against all enemies; and; <br />WHEREAS, September 17, 2011, marks the two hundred twenty -fourth anniversary of <br />the drafting of the Consitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition of this magnificent <br />document and its memorable anniversary; and, <br />WHEREAS, the independence guaranteed to American citizens, whether by birth or <br />naturalization, should be celebrated during Constitution Week, September 17 through 23, 2011, <br />as designated by proclamation of the President of the United States of America in accordance <br />with Public Law 915. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br />1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey proclaims the week of September 17 <br />through 23, 2011 as CONSTITUTION WEEK. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Wise and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Backous <br />Councilmember Wise <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Strommen <br />Councilmember Tossey <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />
