Your
spacing requirement of 1200 feet and requiring signs to be a principle use of the property eliminated
most potential sigb locations in Ramsey.

I was fortunate en[ough to find a location that would meet the criteria at Alpaca Estates, 300 feet east
of Llama Street. On April 27, 1992 we signed a lease with owner, Haakson .la. mess, expecting the draft
ordinance to be pa~;sed. Because of other pressing issues, it took almost a year and a half to be brought
before the council[for a vote and was defeated at the last meeting.

I am as'king that gpu reconsider and overturn your rejection of the proposed ordinance. Because the
ordinance is so re.lu-icfive, I could only find three parcels of vacant land that met the requirements of
the ordinance and~of the threes o,nly Mr Jarness was willing to commit to a l~se agr~ment. By
reversing your decision, you will not be closing the door to an industry that provides Ramsey tax payers
with lease rent wlgl.e their property remidns vacant and unproductive.

Your requirement. ~tha/ as.i",~,n be an attractive single r>ole, design with unde.r_,2round
landscaping indica~s that you were concerned with aesthetics when this ordinance was drafted.

am enclosing a n6Wspaper article that I hope will convince you that billboards play an important role
the business choate of any city.

Sincerely,

Richard Mlodzik

Real Estate Department

RM:mf

Enclosure

Office~ in: Duluth, MN ·

ldinneapolis, MN ·

St. Cloud, MN · Eau Claire

WI
