shall be deducted from the allowable wall signage area. <br />Within the COR2 district, where more conventional suburban development is expected, rather than the <br />neo-traditional development planned for the other COR sub -districts, the following standards apply: <br />A. Wall, canopy or marquee sign. Total sign area may not exceed 15 percent of the front <br />building facade. At least 50 percent of the signage area must be placed on the measured <br />wall with remaining signage area, if desired, distributed on any other wall. Sign height shall <br />not exceed the top of the parapet wall or, if no parapet wall, sign height shall not exceed the <br />height of the eaves. The gross surface area of a wall, canopy or marquee sign may be <br />increased by ten percent if such wall sign: <br />1. Consists only of individual, outlined alphabetic, numeric and/or symbolic characters <br />without background except that provided by the building surface to which the sign is to <br />be affixed; <br />2. Illumination, if any, is achieved through shielded illumination, shielded silhouette <br />lighting, or shielded spot lighting but not any lighting where the light source is visible or <br />exposed on the face or sides of the characters; and <br />3. A wall, canopy or marquee sign may be located on the outermost wall of any principle <br />building but shall not project more than 16 inches from the wall to which the sign is to <br />be affixed. A wall sign shall not project higher than the parapet line of the wall to which <br />the sign is to be affixed. <br />In all COR sub -districts, restaurants and cafes shall be permitted one wall -mounted display featuring the <br />actual menu as used at the dining table, to be contained within a shallow wood or metal case and clearly <br />visible through a glass front. The display case shall be attached to the building wall, next to the main <br />entrance, at a height of approximately five feet, shall not exceed a total area of two square feet, and <br />may be lighted. This signage is allowed in addition to other permitted wall signage. <br />Projecting Signs <br />Projecting signs, including graphics or icon signs, mounted perpendicular to the building wall, are <br />encouraged in all sub -districts, provided the following standards are met: <br />A. The sign area shall not exceed six square feet. <br />B. The distance from the ground to the lower edge of the signboard shall be ten feet or <br />greater. <br />C. The height of the top edge of the signboard shall not exceed the height of the wall from <br />which the sign projects, if attached to a single story building, or the height of the sill or <br />bottom of any second story window, if attached to a multistory building. <br />D.
