MINNESOTA MRT MARKETING TOOLBOX <br />12-Week Social Media Broadcast <br />flickr <br />The below 12-week social plan can be customized for Facebook, <br />Twitter, blogs, and other social media outlets. It is intended to give <br />you a jumpstart on ideas and methods to promote the MRT via <br />social media. Please have some fun and supplement with your own <br />ideas! <br />WEEK 1 <br />Announce ribbon -cutting or trail opening celebration; include event <br />photos and links to MRT maps and info <br />WEEK 2 <br />Post bicycle safety rules and regulations, include link to MRT maps <br />and information. <br />WEEK 3 <br />Mississippi River Trivia — Topic: MRT was designated a Millennium <br />Trail by President Clinton in the year 2000. <br />Potential questions: In what year was the MRT designated a <br />Millennium Trail? Which President designated the MRT a Millennium <br />Trail? <br />Include link to MRT maps and information. <br />WEEK 4 <br />Photo Contest! Solicit photos of people riding their bikes along the <br />MRT. Use polling to allow viewers to rate their favorites. Include <br />link to MRT maps and information. <br />WEEK 5 <br />Encourage local/regional/state leaders to ride the MRT — and make <br />an announcement via social media letting the public know when <br />and where they'll be biking. Include link to MRT maps and <br />information. <br />WEEK 6 <br />Give a shout -out to a bicycle -friendly business along the bikeway, <br />encouraging your audience to patronize them. Arrange for a <br />bicycle -friendly business to offer rewards for trivia for a limited <br />time.
