Existing Sunwood Drive is a hard edged urban section with on street parking, sidewalks
adjacent to the curb and store fronts adjacent to the sidewalk. As outlined in The COR
Development Plan 5.03, the beginning of the Sunwood realignment marks the transition
from hard edged urban to more suburban configurations with off street parking. The
roadway sections proposed for the Sunwood realignment reflect that transition. The
proposed sections are shown in Figure 5. The traffic volumes on the north/south section
of Sunwood Drive are projected to be approximately 10,000 vehicles per day and a two
lane roadway with a two way center left turn center lane is proposed. This section will
provide an allowance for approximately 50% more capacity beyond the current ultimate
projections. The projected traffic volumes on the section of Sunwood Drive between the
roundabout and Armstrong Boulevard are approaching 20,000 vehicles per day and a
four lane roadway section with right and left turn lanes is proposed.
Figure 5: Typical Sections
R/W
City of Ramsey
Sunwood Drive
/W
120'
4'
12' 12' 13' MEDIAN
13"
b 4 (u 4 L 3' S' 3"
2TL 9 TH2U 14
4T4 4TL ` 7 MR L) ` RTL 2TL
T+.
- 71
r
t
R/W
L
1
6,
WALK'
13'
THRU
SUNUJOOD DRIVE
SECTION A
80'
2'
TWLTL
3'
THRU
_
IWA61.1
1.5" WEAR COURSE
(MVWE35O356)
5' NON —WEAR COURSE
(MVNW350355)
6" CLASS 5
AGGREGATE BASE
SUBGRADE
2/W
SU CT ON B E 'a `(11350358)SE
5 NON —WEAR COURSE
i (MV10W30356)
6" CLASS 5
'C AGGREGATE BASE
L A NDF ORM
SUBGRA0E
2'
Project No. RAM11008
Page 7
