8.71.06 Illegal Accessory Apartments <br /> <br />Any illegal accessory apartments in existence as of , 1995 shall have <br />twelve (12) months to comply with this Section of the City Code. Illegal accessory <br />apartments applying for legal status within this period shall have no penalty assessed <br />against the owner for having installed an illegal accessory apartment. Illegal accessory <br />apartments which apply for legal status after this period has expired shall be considered in <br />violation and may be subject to penalty. If an existing illegal unit cannot meet the <br />requirements of this Chapter, the apartment must be removed within six months of <br />discovery. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />The following is the official summary of Ordinance 94-XX which has been approved by the City <br />Council of the City of Ramsey as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 8.71 shall be added to the Ramsey City Code to establish regulations and procedures for <br />creating accessory apartments in single family dwelling units. It shall require an accessory <br />apartment permit to create an accessory, dwelling unit within a single family structure in the City of <br />Ramsey. Said permit must be reviewed by the Planning Commission and approved by the City <br />Council.
