DA'IF_,:

TO:

FROM:

MEMORANDUM

October 4, 1994

Park and Recreation Commission

Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor
Heidi Welsch, Community Development Intern

Fox Park Survey//2

The results of the Fox Park Survey #2 seem clearly in favor of some type of development with 27
surveys responding "YES" to park development and 9 responding "NO. This evidence seems to
substantiate the previous sur,,,e)"s favorable response.

The preferred landscaping scheme seems to be partial prairie restoration and partial mowed lawn.
Some conclusions can also be drawn about park development types - of people favoring some type
of park development, an overwhelming majority wishes to see play equipment, garbage cans, and
picnic tables put in the area. A strong majority wishes to see the boardwalk, handicap access, and
basketball court.

Conversely, a strong majority wishes not to see a parking lot, picnic shelter, picnic grills, or park
sign. A few items were more evenly split - volleyball court & tennis court. It can be reasonably
assumed that a majority of residents wish for some type of path, though the type (bituminous or
mowed) is questionable.

The previous surveys' responses should be kept in mind when making any final decision of Fox
Park.

tf we exclude the seven survey responses which wished for no development and checked "NO" to
ever5, suggestion, the results took like this:

Nothing 0 15
Play Equipment 26 1
Garbage Cans 22 3
Picnic Tables 22 5
Boardwalk 19 9
Mowed Path 16 9
Handicap Access 15 5
Basketball 15 7
Bituminous Path 15 10
Volleyball 13 12
Tennis 12 13
Picnic Grills 9 17
Park Sign 9 17
Picnic Shelter 8 17
Paring Lot 6 ' 20
