RAMSEY FIRE DEPARTMENT DRIVING POLICY Scope: This policy affects all members of the Ramsey Fire Department when involved in any function of fire fighting services. This will include: · Incidents (rites, rescues, any emergency that is paged out through 2800) · Drills/Training · Departmental Functions (daycare demonstrations, parades, picnics, fundraising, public functions, etc.) Purpose: The Ramsey Fire Department recognizes the necessity of safe driving. The Department is committed to provide training and continual support to assure that ail members drive in a safe manner. Responsibilities: Fire Fighters; All Fire Fighters are responsible for adherence to this policy. Fire Chiof; The Fire Chief is responsible for disciplinary action in the event that a Fire Fighter violates this policy. Assistant Fire Chief: The Assistant Fire Chief will assume the Fire Chiefs responsibilities in the Fire Chiefs absence. Requirements: If any member is observed and reported driving in an unsafe manner (in violation of traffic laws or unsafe act) disciplinary action wilt take place in the following order: Fir~[ Occ~rr¢nce; The Fire Fighter will receive a wri[Ien warning. Along with the written warning will be a review of the Driving 1~ and driving expectations of the Fire Department. The Fire Fighters will glgo be restricted to responding from the station only after the first 2 units have left. ,~T. he~Driving Policy will be reviewed along with the driving expectations of ~e Fire Department. Third Occurrence; The Fire Fighter will receive a third written warning and be suspended from all fhe fighting duties for a period of 45 calendar days. During this period the Fire Fighter's turnout gear and pager will be surrendered to the Fire Chief. Fourth Occurrence: The Fire Fighter will be terminated from the Ramsey Fire Department. Ail City owned equipment will be returned to the Fire Chief within five (5) calendar days. Refusal to return equipment will result in the terminated person paying the new market value for any and all pieces of city owned equipment. Implemented May 25, 1994.
