No ceremonies, presentations, or speeches arc planed. There likely will be one or more
demonstrational planhngs at the Municipal Center with the plant material donated from the vendors.

Environmental Education

When asked about the family oriented environmental education program conducted the last couple
of years, neither Staff nor the Expo participating Green Tree Committee members had preference
for one educational component over another. The University of Minnesota has been contacted to
garner their "Eagle Show" and a response is imminent. Meanwhile, Animal Adventures is on
reserve. As has been expressed in the past, most environmental education programs are very hard
to come by on the "Earth Day" weekends.

The most significant deviation from the Expo's past will be two landscape courses to be presented
on Friday, April 22, and April 29, before the Expo. Each is different. The class on the 29th will
focus on spring yard maintenance and on the 22nd, the course will be geared to home owners with
new yards. We are very excited about the value and potential participation this session will
facilitate. It may be prudent to provide a special mailing announcing this opportunity to all of the
new home owners that moved into Ramsey in 1993 and 1994. The draft course syllabus is
attached as Exhibit B.

The School

No activities directly related to the Expo will be held at the school.

Child Car~

In 1991, the City funded an entertainment component to the Expo targeted to children. A similar
element for this year would provide parents an opportunity to deposit their kids with licensed day
care persons in order to shop for trees and otherwise socialize unhindered. Kaleidoscope Day care
of Ramsey was "thrilled" at the suggestion and eagerly accepted. The "daycare" will be in the back
half of the seniors room. Kaleidoscope will be assisted by Anoka High School volunteers the City
recruited at the high school's job fair. The children will be entertained by movies and participation
in a science lab program.

The front half of the seniors area may be occupied by the seniors themselves who are considering a
bake sale.

As previously stated, the adopted 1994 budget provides $500 for the Expo and Tree Sale. There
will be no participation by the City in any fund raisers and therefore, little possibility for
confusion. It is expected that the entire $500 will be needed for the referenced Expo's activities.
More than $500 will not be expended. The University of Minnesota's Raptor/F_.agle program, if
available, will cost $195. Animal Adventures, if needed, would be approximately $375. Seedling
tree bags have been purchased at $92 (there may be enough for next year). Postage and printing
should total tess than $33.
