CASE # <br /> <br />APPROVE CONTRACT WITH GREATER ANOKA COUNTY HUMANE <br />SOCIETY FOR ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES <br /> By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The contract wit~ the Greater Anoka County Humane Society (GACHS), for the provision of <br />animal control sewmes, is currently set to expire on July 31, 1994. <br /> <br /> t <br />Last year, Chief ~uspos investigated the possibility of contracting this type of service through the <br />City of Anoka. ~ue to actions taken by the Anoka City Council, the plan was put on hold,' <br />therefore the Citylof Ramsey contracted with GACHS for animal control services. <br /> <br />Chief Auspos hasiagain spoken with the City of Anoka and while they plan to shortly resurrect the <br />plan, it will not occur prior to our need for a new eonu'act. While Chief Auspos still feels that this <br />avenue is worth e~tploring, as it might be more cost effective for the City of Ramsey, we will need <br />to renew the currdnt contract with GACHS for the 1994-1995 contract year. <br /> <br />The costs presented by GACHS for services are comparable to previous contracts and there have <br />been no complai~fits to note regarding their services. In the event the City of Anoka's project <br />proceeds and pro~es to be a better benefit for our community, there is an early termination clause in <br />the agreement wig GACHS which the City could exercise. <br /> <br />Staff RecommOndation: <br /> <br />Staff recommend~ the Finance Committee approve the contract for animal control services as <br />presented and for~yard to City Council for approval. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Forward recommandation to City Council for approval of the 1994-1995 Animal Control Services <br />contract with GACHS and authorize the City Administrator to sign the contract. <br /> <br />Reviewed by; <br /> <br />City Administrato~ <br />Finance Officer <br />Police Chief <br /> <br />FC: 7/26/94 <br /> <br /> <br />
