CASE # <br /> <br />DISCUSS USE OF CITY OWNED AND OPERATED FACILITIES <br /> By: Jessie L. Hart, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the August 22, 1994 Finance Committee meeting, concerns over rental rates raised by the <br />Anoka Women ~f Today, who have started a Ramsey branch, were discussed and reviewed as <br />they related to ot~r rental policies. This case relates to information requested by the City Council in <br />regards to that di~scussion. <br /> <br />At the request ot~ the Council, we have surveyed surrounding communities and Anoka-Hennepin <br />School District ~11 in regards to facility/room rental policies and rates. The following details a <br />summary of the ~,~esponses: <br /> <br />City of Andover:i <br />Currently allowsluse of facilities on a first come, first serve basis; charges no type of fee; and has <br />no established p~licies regarding facility use. Permission for use is at the discretion of the person <br />taking the reques). <br /> <br />(~ity ofAnq~kg: ~ <br />Allows the rent~tl of the community room and council chambers/meeting rooms for various <br />functions. Charg~es for the community room are as follows: <br /> ~ Weekends <br /> Weekdays and Holidavs <br /> <br /> Less than~.30 people <br /> More thafi 30 people <br /> <br />Note: All charge~ are per day. <br />food will be served. <br /> <br /> Exempti°~s from charges include: <br /> Senioi' citizens functions <br /> Votin~ <br /> Gove~ment or school meetings <br /> City eBnployee functions <br /> [ <br /> <br />$ 25.00 $ 50.00 <br />$ 50.00 "'.. $100.00 <br /> <br />There are additional charges for damage deposits and kitchen fees if <br /> <br />Charges for the igouncil chambers/meeting rooms (approximately 30 and 15 people capacity <br />respectively) are i~s follows: <br /> <br /> A $20.00 ?charge for the use of these rooms, no food served and coffee allowed. <br /> <br /> Can only ~ used for the following (all get charged):. <br /> Civicprganizations '-. <br /> Non-l~rofit organizations <br /> (exclu~fies religious ~oups for the purpose of prayer'meetings or fundraising) <br /> <br />The Anoka policies do not allow for private parties - all events must be open to the general public. <br /> <br /> <br />
