With the approach of <br /> t is important that the police have a place to park at least one squad indoors. <br /> ~s property will be forfeited at a point in the future, it must be maintained in a <br /> <br />The possibility o~' renting one or more storage bays has been considered. The cost to do this <br />would be approxi~mately $100 to $150 per month for an area large enough for the property that <br />would be stored!there. If the property was held for at least 6 months, the cost would total <br />approximately $600 to $900. While the storage of said property is anticipated to be longer than 6 <br />months, the need [or adequate, secure storage is ongoing. <br /> <br />Based on discussions between the Police and Public Works Departments, it has been determined <br />that a secure property storage area could be constructed in the metal public works building, located <br />at 14100 Jaspar Street, for a cost of approximately $1,000, utilizing city employees for the <br />construction labof~. This facility, if usage would be discontinued by the Police Department, would <br />also be useable ~y the Public Works Department, thus it can be used for more that property <br />storage. <br /> <br />This constructionicost could be absorbed in 1994, with a budget amendment to reallocate $1,000 <br />from the account budgeted for uncollectible fire bills in cost center #2220. <br /> [ <br /> <br />Staff's Recommendation: <br /> ~ . <br />Staff recommends¢Comm~ttee approval of the consu-uction of a property storage facility in the metal <br />public works building at a cost not-to-exceed $1,000. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recornn~end Council approve the adopt the Resolution Authorizing a Budget Amendment <br />for the Constructipn of a Property Storage Facility in the Metal Public Works Building at 14100 <br />Jaspar Street N.W. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer : <br />Police Chief <br />City Engineer <br />Public Works SuPervisor <br /> <br />FC: 11/22/94- <br /> <br /> <br />
