CASE #3 CHANGE MEETING TIME OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION By: James Gromberg, Project Manager Background: We have recently ~eld discussion about possibly change the meeting time for the EDC to evening as opposed to mo~ing. It was decided at the last meeting that we should meet tonight for this month and to distil, ss a possible meeting change further at this meeting. Following is the ctlrrent meeting schedule. The EDC would have to choose an evening that has not already been rese~ed for Council or another Commission. City Coun~l: Planning at~d Zoning Commission: Board of ABjustment: Park and Riecreation Commission Horse Care Board Fire Department Charter Commission Fire Board 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month; 7:00 p.m. 1st Tuesday of each month: 7:30 p.m. 4th Thursday of each month; 7:30 p.m. 2nd Thursday of each month; 6:00 p.m. 3rd Tuesday, as needed 2nd Wednesday; 7:00 p.m. 3rd Thursday - quarterly beginning in January or as needed 3rd Monday - quarterly beginning in March or as needed The main advantage to meeting in the morning is that the meetings are limited to a certain time length. This keep~ the meetings from digressing down any particular tangent that may or may not be relevant. However, the majority of the City meetings are conducted in the evening and this may explain why the EDC has diffiaulty attracting applicants. In the past, we have discussed waiting until the new members are in place to change the time and date of the meeting. However, we may want to make these changes no~v and advertise that fact to boost interest in getting people to serve on our Commission. Recommendation: Based upon discussion, the regular meeting time of the Economic Development Commission may or may not change. Reviewed by: Project Manager EDC: 1/6/94
