CASE # 1994 BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY By:~ James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator Background: As in the past, the Economic Development Commission has sponsored a Business Appreciation Day with an Ann~al Golf Tournament and dinner. At the dinner, a plaque is presented to the inductee into the Itamsey Hall of Fame, and a short speech is given by a City dignitary. I have contacted l~e two local golf courses to get bids for hosting the event. Attached for your review are the bids the City has received. I have also included a memo comparing the costs associated with hc~s. ting the event at both of the courses. In the past, it has been suggested that we try to alternate be ~veen each of the courses. This year, it would appear that the bids are similar enough to recomni~ nd that the event be held at The Links at Northfork. The tentative date for the event is August 23, 1994. Also attached for your review and comment is the flyer for this y~"ear's event. As you will note on the flyer, the time of the event has changed. This year the sehe~Jule will be as follows: 12:30 1~0 5~30 Registration Shotgun Start, Best Ball Golf Tourney Cash Bar/Social Dinner/Awards The schedule was ~:hanged to a half day event so more business people may attend. The price per golfer will remain at $50.00, which includes $5.00 towards the prizes. We should plan to start contai:ting the local businesses to arrange teams and prize donations. The following time table may be ~ffective in gaining a greater number of local participants: a) F1ygrs mailed on June 17, 1994. b) Co/nmission members start contacting local businesses on July 25, 1994. c) Finhl registration August 16, 1994.
