CASE #3

~ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION SIZE
By:! James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator

Background:
?

As many of the ~x~mmission members are aware, the Economic Development Commission has
experienced somefdifficulty in getting new members and gathering a quorum for the meetings. The
Commission did {hange the meetings from the morning to evenings in an effort to combat these
problems. Anoth6, r step in solving this problem may be to recommend to the City Council that the
Economic Development Commission be reduced to seven (7) members.

Currently City Co~missions have the following membership makeups:

Planning Commission 7 members
Park and Recreation Commission 7 members
Charter COmmission 9 members
Horse Car~ Board 5 members

The Ramsey CityI Code allows for commissions to be composed of up to nine members. The
reduction in the size allows for the commission to fit more closely with the other advisory
commissions.

Commission Aation:

Motion to recomn)end that the Ramsey City Council change the Ramsey Economic Development
Commission size tO seven members from the current nine members.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
Economic Development Coordinator

EDC:05/12/94

15
