CASE #2

LAND USE PLAN UPDATE
By:: James Gromberg, Economic Development Coordinator

Background:

As many of you a~e aware, the City is currently updating the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. For
your review and c~mment, I have enclosed the following information:

1) Mast recent land use proposals
2) Ta[~le comparing land uses and absorption rates
3) Metrno analyzing what the above table may mean

The Land Use Pla~ is generally updated every ten years. Updates may also occur more often if the
City is requesting[ a Metropolitan Urban Service Area (MUSA) expansion. These updates
generally do not i~clude large scale land use changes or changes in any of the other areas of the
Comprehensive Plan except the urban area. The ten year updates generally include a review and
possible change tCall sections such as park plan, transportation plan, and land use.

The EDC should be aware of these changes as they relate to future development and the plans that
local businesses l~ay be considering. The EDC should make a recommendation to the City
Council as to whal it thinks of the proposed plan changes and suggest changes to allow for what
the Commission b~lieves would be a better plan for the land use. This may be as easy as ranking
each option or ma.~ mean changing uses of different areas.

Commission Adtion:

Based upon discussion, the EDC should make a recommendation to the City Council as to the
proposed land useiplan changes.

Reviewed by: ~

City Administrator~
Economic Develol~ment Coordinator

EDC:06/02/94

7
