Councilmember ~ introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #94-11- 27 THROUGH RESOLUTIOI~ PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER DECEMBER ~, 1994 AS HOME CARE WEEK, 1994 WHERI~JtS, Ramsey citizens of all ages and economic levels are concerned about high- quality, affordabl~, long-term health care. Home care provides a wide range of these needed health and supportive se~rvices to the ii1, elderly, disabled and inf'n'm in their own homes. The concept of home care is the ~ldest and most enduring tradition of health service delivery in the United States of America; and i . WHERE~S, surveys show that most people prefer to receive medical care and related supportive services in their own homes. There is also a significant and growing body of evidence that homes care s4rvices stimulate quicker and fuller recoveries and improvements than comparable services within institutions; and WHERE~S, home care allows our disabled and chronically ill citizens of all ages to remain with their[loved ones in surroundings that are familiar and comfortable. In so doing, home care helps prese~e one of the country's most important social values, keeping families together; and WHERE~S, as our citizens require more in-home care, Ramsey home care agencies are meeting that challenge. Home care agencies are providing services ranging from assistance with personal care to hi~h-tech intravenous drag therapies; and WHERE,~,S, with rapidly rising health care costs, home care offers a practical means of providing health c~are and related services to those who desperately need them. By offering these services in the ho~e, we can treat our elderly, disabled, and chronically ill population comfortably, cost-effectively, arid with high-quality, individualized health care and supportive services. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ~NOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the ~ity of Ramsey does hereby proclaim the week of November 27 through December 3, 1994 as Home Care Week, 1994. The motion for the!adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following x;oted against the same: £ and the following abstained: and the following Were absent: whereupon said resblution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 22nd day of No.~ember 1994.
