P.W. CASE:

REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR DEEP SEWER CONSTRUCTION
By: Brian E. Otson, Assistant Director of Public Works / Principal City, Engineer

Background:

On March 25, 2003, the City of Ramsey approved the development a~eement for
Wildlife SanctuaW 3rd Addition. As part of th/s development, the City required the
Developer to extend an 18 inch deep sewer main to the edge of his plat to minimize
inconvenience to the property owners that will .move into this subdivision. This sewer
pips did not benefit the development and should be eli~ble for trunk sewer credit.

Attached is a copy of the development agreement that was associated with this approved
development and on page 4 of 12 of the development agreement (Item 9) it shows that the
Developer paid for all of his trunk fees ...w?hout any credit.

On September 30, 2003, the City of Ramsey received a request from the Developer to
reimburse them for the cost of the installation of the trunk sanitary sewer. This invoice is
attached and has been verified by City Staff.

Recommendation:

Staff feels that the attached invoice for $36,335 is a reasonable cost for the installation of
the trunk sanitary sewer cost and is eligible for reimbursement from the trunk sanitary
sewer fund.

Committee Action:

Recommend to the City Council to reimburse Oakwood Land Development for $36,335
for installation of the trunk sanitary sewer within Wildlife Sanctuary 3ra Addition.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator James Norman
Director of Public Works Dean Kapler

PW: 10/21/03

-188-
