Assistant Directo~ of Public Works Olson reviewed the location of the tree Preservation line and <br />the reason there ~as some confusion over the location of the line. <br /> <br />Councilmember l~immerman stated that there is perception by the residents that the original tree <br />line was not staked properly. <br /> <br />Councilrnember ~urak stated that the neighbors that live along this development have been very <br />closely watching!the area and she had personally talked to Ms. Dvorak about the issue and she <br />wanted it known !hat she was satisfied with what was taking place on the site. <br /> <br />Steve Thurland, 114700 Potassium Street NW, Ramsey, inquired as to how many more trees will <br />be removed from':where the current silt fence is located. <br /> <br />Mr. Kangas note~ that the silt fence has been relocated to the actual tree preservation line. <br /> <br />Mr. Thurland staled that it seemed like the existing residents are constantly having to come back <br />and give more t~ the development. The development was a sensitive issue and trees were a big <br />concern so it get~ frustrating when they are back months later finding out that there may be more <br />trees removed. ~e also expressed concern that he did not see the issue placed on any work <br />session agenda ~d apparently the Council discussed the issue previously at a work session and <br />the residents onl}"~ received notice of this meeting on the day of the meeting. He stated that the <br />process really concerned him. <br /> <br />Sandy Bertzyk, fi001 - 146th Avenue NW, Ramsey, stated that she moved into her home seven <br />years ago and shb was told at that time that their road would go through and that there would be <br />future developmt~nt. She stated that she was very appreciative of how available the developer has <br />been to the residents and how willing they have been to save and replace trees. <br /> <br />Councilmember~Cook stated that he believed that the developer and the City have done <br />everything they ~an to preserve trees on this site. In addition, he felt that the developer had done <br />a good job with ~eeting with the neighbors to try and address their concerns. <br /> <br />Councilmember ~Kurak stated that there has been an enormous amount of improvements done on <br />the property and ithe developer has brought in a lot of very large trees into the development. <br /> <br />Counc/lmember ,Zimmerman inquired if the City requires developers to install a silt fence before <br />grading occurs to, preserve trees. <br /> <br />Assistant Directq)r of Public Works Olson replied yes. <br /> <br />Councilmember~Pearson stated that his number one goal was to save as many trees as possible <br />and he felt that they have done that. <br /> <br />City Council/October 14, 2003 <br /> Page 9 of 30 <br /> <br /> <br />
