APPROVE MII~IUTES <br /> <br />Motion by Memb. er Gromberg, seconded by Member Steffen, to approve the following meeting <br />minutes as presented: <br /> <br />1) Economic D°velopment Authority regular meeting minutes dated July 14, 2003. <br /> <br />Motion carried, iVoting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members Gromberg, Steffen, Kiefer, Kurak, <br />LeTourneau, and!Riley. Voting No: None. Absent: Member Strommen. <br /> <br />EDA BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: R~!m River Commercial Node Redevelopment Study <br /> <br />Associate Planne~r Geisler noted Jim McComb from the McComb Group reviewed the completed <br />redevelopment stDdy for the Rum River Commercial Area at the July EDA meeting and the EDA <br />was interested in ~0btaining information related to the following: possible development scenarios <br />and associated c6sts, options and costs to update the existing buildings on site, and costs for <br />providing a Master Plan for the area. <br /> <br />Ms. Geisler state~l~ staff was recommending the EDA authorize staff to prepare a Request for <br />Proposals (RFP) to hire a consultant who was able to provide both a land use plan for the area <br />and a retail dev~lopment strategy. She explained it was staff's opinion that, by hiring a <br />consultant, the EDA-- ~s questions and concerns raised at the July meeting would be addressed. <br /> <br />Ms. Geisler note-~l the City Council would be reviewing the McComb study sometime in <br />September or early October. She added staff was suggesting Council review the McComb study <br />and the RFP at thc same meeting. <br /> <br />Ms. Geisler indichted staff had sent a copy of this case cover sheet to the landowners advising <br />them of what wotlld be discussed at the September EDA meeting. <br /> <br /> Geisler recommended the EDA direct staff to begin the RFP process for land use and retail <br />Ms. <br />planning for the ;Rum River Commercial Node and forward the McComb study to the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Bob Muller, Run River Plaza, was asked to address the EDA. He indicated his business had <br />been on its corne~ for 30 years and had survived; however, the economy and location had not <br />been the best dur~g the last several years. He stated he was excited about the entire program, <br />and he hoped his ~corner would become an asset to the City. He added any help from the City <br />would be appreci~ed. <br /> <br />Member Kiefer asked if his partners were of the same thought.
