HRA (Tuesday - Immed. following CC — CC)
• Election of Officers
Park and Recreation Commission (Thursday - 6:30 p.m. — CC)
• Review 2011 Park and Trail Projects and Activity
Council Update
Matt Look Named to County Committees. Anoka County Commissioner Matt Look was
named to various Anoka County Committees at the County Board's organization meeting held on
January 3. Attached to the Weekly Update is a press release regarding Commissioner Look's
appointments.
A Happy Start to the New Year. Well over two thousand people have used the rinks at Ramsey
Elementary and Central Park's skating facilities as of New Years Day! These numbers are
beyond the usual head -count this early in the season, and is due to Ramsey having superior ice
conditions (which is normal) than some of our neighbors. What is not normal, however, is that
some communities like Anoka (ouch) have no skateable outdoor ice at all. Ramsey continues to
receive accolades from non - residents who are using our rinks and are surprised and grateful for
the skating opportunity. Hat's off to the maintenance staff who worked the overnight shift in mid
to late December when temperatures were conducive to flooding and freezing. A typical winter
sees about 4,000 users at each facility — time and weather will tell if this will be a superbly
sublime season for skating, or in the end, if it is just normally `superior' skating in Ramsey!
Former Mayor of New Hope Passes Away. Mr. Edward Erickson passed away this past week
at the age of 80. He was the Mayor of New Hope for 26 years and was a founding Board Member
of the North Metro Mayors Association.
