Mayor Gamec introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #03-02-049 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING YOUTH FIRST MAYORS' PRAYER BREAKFAST <br />DAY FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 2003 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cities of Andover, Anoka, and Ramsey, together with Anoka County <br />and Anoka-Hennepin School District #11, joined together in 1995 to form the Northwest Anoka <br />County Community Consortium, designed to create a public-private community partnership to <br />focus on better delivery of existing public services to children and young adults; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Consortium is focusing on implementing a communitY-wide vision for <br />positive youth development and a detailed action plan to implement the results of the Search <br />Institute's Youth Needs Assessment Survey; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Consortium oversees the initiative, known as Youth First, which is <br />responsible for accomplishing this action plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Consortium and Youth First encourage community partnerships to <br />improve the factors inhibiting healthy development of youth identified in the study to assist <br />youth in increasing their ability to make positive choices in their lives; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Annual Mayors' Prayer Breakfast serves to solidify our communities <br />resolve in developing positive assets for our youth. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />l) <br /> <br />That Friday, March 21, 2003, is declared Youth First Day in the Cities of Andover, <br />Anoka and Ramsey, and a Mayors' Prayer Breakfast will be held on that day in <br />support of the Youth First initiative. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That we call upon the citizens in our communities to assist the work of the Northwest <br />Anoka County Community Consortium and Youth First to implement a unified vision <br />for positive youth development in our communities. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Cook and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Cook <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Kurak <br />Councilmember Pearson <br />Councilmember Strommen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br /> <br />
