Cotmcilmember Kurak introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #03-02-052 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT FOR COMPREHENSIVE REGIONAL PLANNING <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, legislation identified as House File 30 and Senate File 250 were <br />introduced on January 10, 2003, which would eliminate the requirement that local <br />comprehensive plans be submitted to the Metropolitan Council for review; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey strongly supports the clear need for regional <br />planning and coordination, particularly in relationship to effective and efficient operation <br />of regional services such as wastewater treatment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey strongly supports regional planning efforts in <br />relation to transportation systems in order to adequately address future transportation <br />congestion. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City of Ramsey opposed House File 30 and Senate File 250 which would <br />repeal most State Statute language regarding comprehensive planning in the <br />Metropolitan Area. <br /> <br />2) That the City of Ramsey supports the Land Planning Act language which would <br /> require regional planning and coordination through the Metropolitan Council. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember Cook and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Kurak <br />Councilmember Cook <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Pearson <br />Councilmember Strommen <br />Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br />And the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />And the following abstained: <br /> <br /> <br />
