Councilmember Kurak introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #03-03-075 RESOLUTION TO INCREASE ON-SALE LIQUOR LICENSE FEE WHEREAS, a public hearing was conducted to consider the increase of fees of the on- sale liquor licenses from $4,000.00 to $4,500.00; and WHEREAS, the fees charged for on-sale liquor licenses have not increased since 1982; and WHEREAS, in a comparison of cities with a population of 10,000 to 20,000, the fees range from $200.00 per year to $10,000.00 per year for on-sale liquor licenses; and WHEREAS, the average on-sale license for comparison cities is $4,753.00 per year; and WHEREAS, all license applications are referred to the Chief of Police and to other City departments for verification and investigation of the facts of the application; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey conducts alcohol compliance checks on all licensees as defined in Minnesota State Statute; and WHEREAS, this increase in fees will more accurately reflect the costs incurred by the City in issuing and enforcing on-sale liquor licenses. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Ramsey City Council authorizes the increase in license fees for on-sale liquor from $4,000.00 per year to $4,500.00 per year. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Strommen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec Councilmember Councilmember Councilmember Councilmember Councilmember Councilmember Kurak Strommen Cook Elvig Pearson Zimmerman and the following voted against the same: None
