CITY OF RAMSEY POSITION ANALYSIS <br />POSITION TITLE: Fire Chief <br />DEPARTMENT: Fire Department <br />POSITION TITLE OF <br />IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: City Administrator <br />FLSA STATUS: Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br />The Fire Chief has overall responsibility for the conduct and performance f all personnel in the <br />Fire Department; the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures <br />to deliver fire suppression and prevention services; and short and long term planning to ensure <br />that the level of service provided meets the expectations of the City Council, City staff and <br />community. <br />SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />A. Supervise and direct Fire Department staff in a manner that promotes team building. <br />B. Develop and maintain a capital improvements program. <br />C. Develop and recommend a Fire Department budget program. <br />D. Evaluate, direct and coordinate activities and resources at fire scenes. <br />E. Develop and monitor a maintenance program that keeps all department equipment and <br />vehicles in a state of readiness for emergencies. <br />F. Develop and implement, in conjunction with other departments and outside agencies, an <br />action plan for dealing with natural disasters. <br />G. Maintain up -to -date procedures and training for department response to hazardous <br />material incidents. <br />H. Develop and implement a Fire Department Inspection program. <br />1. Provide community service /public relations activities. <br />J. Administer the Joint Powers Agreement. <br />K. Manage the St. Francis Fire Department nt per agreement. <br />L. Perform other duties as assigned (within the ability and resources of the Fire Chief) at the <br />verbal or written direction of the City Administrator. <br />
