CC Work Session 2. 1. <br />Meeting Date: 02/21/2012 <br />By: Patrick Brama, Administrative Services <br />Title: <br />Consider Participation in the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program <br />Background: <br />Staff had the opportunity to meet with Master Sergeant David Denton on Friday February 10th regarding <br />establishing a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon (BTYR) program for service members and their families in the Ramsey <br />community. In short, BTYR aims to organize and market resources available for U.S. service members and their <br />families to include prayer groups, available meeting spaces, gift package programs, discounted or donated services, <br />etc. <br />The proposed Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program would be a multi -city program that would include the cities of <br />Ramsey, Anoka, Andover, and Champlin. City participation would include: <br />• Assistance in coordinating a kick -off event for the program (tentatively scheduled for late March, location <br />TBD) <br />• Assistance from the City communicating the kick -off event to the various local businesses and organizations <br />• General support from the City via the use of meeting rooms, communication mediums, and council members <br />willing to speak at various events <br />Master Sergeant David Denton, United States Army, will be present at the work session to discuss the BTYR <br />program and provide more detail regarding the kick -off event. <br />Attached to this case is a document that provides additional background on the BTYR program. <br />Notification: <br />NA <br />Observations: <br />NA <br />Recommendation: <br />NA <br />Funding Source: <br />Limited staff time and administrative services budgets for production of communication materials. <br />Council Action: <br />Consider and direct staff with regard to participation in this new multi -city Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program. <br />Beyond The Yellow Ribbon <br />Attachments <br />
