FIRE BOARD <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Fire Board conducted a regular meeting on Wednesday, February 14, 1990 at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Alan Pearson, Chairman <br />Mr. David Bawden <br />Mr. Richard Cich <br />Mr. Alfred LaTour <br />Mr. Jayme Spence <br />Mr. Steven Wilson <br />Mr. David Hartley, City Administrator <br />Mr. Bruce Hoeke, Fire Chief <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Buzz Bickford, Anoka Fire Chief <br />Russ Anderson, Elk River Fire Chief <br />Bill Bruen, Fire Service Manager, F.I.R.E. Center <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairman Pearson called the regular meeting of the Fire Board to order at 7:31 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Chief Hoeke asked that Case #6: "D.N.R. Gamma Goat" be added to the agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Hartley and seconded by Mr. Wilson to approve the agenda as amended. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Pearson, Board Members Hartley, Wilson, Bawden, <br />Cich, LaTour, Spence. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />BOARD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case gl: Mutual Aid <br /> <br />Chief Hoeke introduced Chief Bickford, Chief Anderson and Mr. Bruen. Mr. Bruen presented <br />some background on his agency; Fire Information Research and Education Center. It was <br />established by legislature in 1968. The agency's main mission is to give assistance to the fire <br />service community and operate the State's fire fighters training system. Mr. Bruen's specialty is <br />fire service contracts between cities, etc. He visits fire departments and boards to discuss <br />problems, concerns, etc. The fire center answers questions and make recommendations. <br /> <br />Mr. Bruen gave some background on Mutual Aid. Mutual agreement support was started back in <br />1922. Most agreements are written contracts, which is recommended, however, there are still <br />some in existence that are "gentlemen agreements". To participate in the Mutual Aid agreements, <br />you need a prescribed amount of equipment.
