Gama Goat

Chief Hoeke explained that the D.N.R. had called to say there was a Gama Goat available for
Ramsey if we wanted it. It is the City's to use free of charge, including the training, but the City
has to house the vehicle and be available with personnel (2 people) to provide assistance when
called by the D.N.R. to aid in fire fighting up to 35 miles away. Most area cities have a Gamma
Goat which is extremely helpful in grass fire fighting as it can make it's way where a lot of
vehicles cannot. Chief Hoeke presented some figures estimating the cost of equipping the rig for
fire fighting. It would be strictly used for grass fires, and would be ours to use until we decided
we no longer wanted it. The fine fighters had discussed the Gama Goat at their department meeting

Fire Board/February 14, 1990
