3 ) City Council regular meeting minutes dated September 10, 1990.
4 ) City Council regular meeting minutes dated November 13, 1990.
5 ) City Council public hearing and special meeting minutes dated November 20, 1990.
6 ) City Council regular meeting minutes dated November 27, 1990.

COMMISSION BUSINESS

Case #1 Countryside Perk review.

Chairman Hetland explained that the purpose of reviewing a park a month is to find out
how the residents would like to see City parks improved in the future. He also explained
that there is not a lot of money in the budget for 1991 and asked that the citizens be
patient with the progress of their parks.

Kevin Brand, 8910 - 176th Avenue NW, reviewed with the Commission the budget that
was set up for their park in 1990. He also told the Commission that the residents would
like to see a tot-lot installed and eventually a ballfield and a gazebo.

Debbie Thatcher, 17555 Unicorn Street NW, asked if the pea rock that is used in the
parks is paid for by the City.

Merland Otto explained that the majority of the pea rock used in the parks are the
sweepings from sealcoating projects. He also explained that if there was a cost, it would
probably come from moving it from the street project site to the park.

Mr. Brand asked if the money that they are not using this year would still be allocated to
them next year, or does it revert back to the general fund.

Mark Boos suggested that if there is a problem with the money reverting back to the
general fund he could purchase the timber now and install them next spring.

Mr. Rush asked if there would be a fence put around the entire park.

Chairman Hetland told him that was not generally done but that there may be one around a
ballfield if that goes in.

Mark Tokar, 17421 Unicorn Street NW, stated that he was opposed to any kind of
organized sports going into a park that borders his property.

Don Olson, 8605 - 176th Avenue NW, suggested that tennis courts be put into either
Central Park or Countryside Estates Park.

Merland Otto noted that there are tennis courts planned for Central Park.

Chairman Hetland thanked the residents that were present for their information and told
them that they would be notified when any improvements are made.

PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION / DECEMBER 13, 1990
PAGE 2 OF 4
