CC Regular Session 4. 10. <br />Meeting Date: 03/13/2012 <br />Submitted For: Heidi Nelson By: Patrick Brama, Administrative Services <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Adopt Resolution #12-03-XXX in Support of the Multi -City Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program <br />Background: <br />In recent weeks, staff had the opportunity to meet with Master Sergeant Dave Denton regarding establishing a <br />Beyond the Yellow Ribbon (BTYR) program for military service members and their families in the Ramsey <br />community. In short, BTYR aims to organize and market resources available for U.S. service members and their <br />families to include prayer groups, available meeting spaces, gift package programs, discounted or donated services, <br />etc. <br />U.S. Army Master Sergeant Dave Denton was present at the February 21, 2012 City Council work session and <br />provided information regarding initiating a multi -city the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon (BTYR) program that would <br />include the City of Ramsey, Anoka, Andover, Champlin and Coon Rapids. Staff and Mr. Denton discussed the <br />commitment of each city in support of the program, which would include the following: <br />• Assistance in coordinating a kick-off event for the program (Thursday March 29, 6:30 p.m., Green Haven, <br />Anoka) <br />• Assistance from the City communicating the kick-off event to the various local businesses and organizations <br />• General support from the City via the use of meeting rooms, communication mediums, and council members <br />willing to speak at various events <br />The kick-off event has been scheduled for the evening of March 29 at Greenhaven in Anoka. The flyer for the <br />event is attached to this case. The resolution pledging support from the City of Ramsey to the BTYR program is <br />attached for consideration. Also attached is a letter of support for the program from the Metro North Chamber of <br />Commerce. <br />Observations: <br />Attached to this case is a document that details the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program for Council review. <br />Recommendation: <br />Approval of the resolution in support of the Multi City Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program. <br />Funding Source: <br />City support would be provided by current staffing and existing budgets. <br />Council Action: <br />Adopt Resolution #12-03-XXX in support of the Multi -City Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program. <br />Attachments <br />BTYR Background <br />BTYR Resolution <br />3/29 Kickoff <br />North Metro Chamber Letter of Support <br />
