Case #12: Review Of Street Lights As A Subdivision Requirement:

The Commission reviewed City Staff's report regarding the results of the street light survey
that was conducted in the January issue of the Ramsey Resident.

The consensus was to direct City Staff to prepare a draft ordinance amendment for
Commission consideration that would establish the following policy:

a)

The addition of street lights to existing rural and urban neighborhoods would
be handled in accordance with the City Charter as it relates to public
improvements -- City consideration of the improvement will require a
petition from the residents. The construction and mainteannce costs would
be assessed to the benefitting property owners.

b)

Street lighting would be required in newly developing urban neighborhoods
at intersections and regular intervals. Construction costs would be the
responsibility of the developer; maintenance costs would be the
responsibility of the benefitting property owners.

The Planning Commission also requested that the Police Department prepare a report
regarding major and hazardous intersections throughout the City where street lights should
be installed.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Commissioner LaDue and seconded by Commissioner Shumway to adjourn the
special Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

Motion carded.
