Dated: July 2, 1990 Executive Director, League of Minnesota Cities Membership Legislative program The League represents all cities al Ibc state Legislature and before state agencies and departments. The legislative program includes development of policies on issues which affect local government. Each member city receives the weekly Cities Bulletin during legislative sessions. The Bulletin keeps members informed of legislative activities. LMC is a member of the National League of Cities. which represents thc local view in Cougress. Information services The League general counsel and research staff answer local government questions. Information memos on state and federal laws or applicable technology are available. The League has use of an extensive library, of ordinances, cily charters, and literature on local government. LMC updates the Handbook for Minnesota Cities each year. It is a comprehensive and authoritative work, covering all aspects of city government. Magazine All member-city officials receive Minnesota Cities, a monthly publication for and about cities, which contains articles on issues and problems of concern to city officials. Conferences The League holds an annual conference for city officials to discuss concerns and elect officers. Regional meetings in the fall give city officials a chance Io exchange ideas and information. An annual legislative action conference, for discussing legislalion, takes place during each legislative session. A policy adoption meeling takes place in November. Training LMC participates in the Government Training Service, which provides training programs for city officials. Services . Thc League sponsors special conferences and seminars on specific problems and issues. Field service A field representative visits member cities on a continuing basis to assist with local problems, and to collect materials to share with other cities. Insurance Through the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT), the League offers workers' compensation, proper- fy/casualty, group health, and group dental coverage to member cities. Directory of city officials The Directory of Minnesota Municipal Officials is an annual list of elected officials and department heads in every city. The directory includes population, state legislative and congressional districts, form of government, council meeting day, and city hall telephone numbers. CLEAR The City Lawyer Exchange Aid and Repository is a set,ce to subscribing city attorneys providing legal research and assistance. and a brief bank to track municipal law in Minnesota courts. MAP . Thc Municipal Amicus Program offers support to cities that are involved in litigation that may have significant statewide impact on Minnesota's cities. ~' Equipment loan program The League sponsors a program to provide cities with Iow-cost funds for equipment purchases. 4M Fund The League-sponsored Minnesota Municipal Money Market Fund ('the 4M Fund') offers a short-term investment alternative to citics.
