CC Work Session <br />Meeting Date: 05/01/2012 <br />Submitted For: Dean Kapler By: Dean Kapler, Fire Department <br />Title: <br />Discussion on Shared Fire Services <br />2.3. <br />Background: <br />In October of 2010 a study group was formed with members of five communities to look at the feasibility of <br />joining communities fire services. The study group was made up of the City Administrator, Elected Official, Fire <br />Chief and a firefighter from the City involved. <br />The group met at least monthly and at the end were meeting every other week. On April 12th a meeting was held by <br />all five communities at the Ramsey City Hall to go over the Final Report the Study Group created. <br />Attached to this case is the Final Report along with the power point presentation used on April 12th. <br />The purpose of the discussion this evening is to decide if Ramsey wants to be involved in continued discussions <br />about a Shared Fire Service. Any questions generated by council that the Ramsey members of the Study Group can <br />not answer will be brought to the next Study Group meeting held on May 10. The goal of the Study Group was to <br />have a decision by each of the five communities by June 1, 2012. <br />Recommendation: <br />Based on discussion. <br />Funding Source: <br />There is no funding required at this time should council decide to continue discussion on Shared Fire Services.
