CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 05/22/2012 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative Services <br />4. 12. <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Report from the Personnel Committee - Meeting Date: May 8, 2012 <br />Background: <br />The Personnel Committee met on May 8, 2012 and discussed three cases. <br />Case 1: Consider a Resolution Ending the Probation Period of a Patrol Officer <br />Case 2: Consider a Resolution to Accept a Planning Commission Resignation and Appoint a New Planning <br />Commissioner <br />Case 3: Consider a Resolution to Accept the Resignation of the Public Works Director, Appoint the Fire Chief and <br />the City Engineer to 3-month Interim Assignments, and to Authorize a Recruitment <br />Notification: <br />Observations: <br />Recommendation: <br />Case 1: The Personnel Committee recommended approval of resolution #12-05-XXX, to remove Mr. Kyle <br />Hemmerich from probation and retain him as a full-time regular Patrol Officer. <br />Case 2: The Personnel Committee recommended approval of resolution # 12-05-XXX to to accept Mr. Andrew <br />Dunnaway's resignation and appoint Jessica Perez to the Planning Commission for a partial term ending on March <br />31, 2013. <br />Case 3: The Personnel Committee recommended approval of resolution # 12-05-XXX to do the following: <br />1) Accept Mr. Brian Olson's resignation as Public Works Director. <br />2) Appoint Fire Chief Kapler to an interim assignment for up to a 3-month period to oversee the Public Works <br />Building Maintenance, Parks, Streets, and Utilities divisions. <br />3) Appoint City Engineer Himmer to oversee the Engineering Division on an ongoing basis. <br />4) Conduct an internal and/or external recruitment process to appoint a qualified candidate to oversee the operations <br />side of the Public Works Building Maintenance, Parks, Streets, and the Utilities divisions. <br />5) To restructure the Public Works Department into two separate areas; Engineering will be led by City Engineer <br />Himmer, and the operations side of Public Works, including Building Maintenance, Parks, Streets, and the Utilities <br />divisions will be led by the candidate promoted or hired during the recruitment process. <br />Funding Source: <br />Case 1: There is no additional funding required for this action. <br />Case 2: There is no additional funding required for this action. <br />Case 3: 1) There is no additional funding requirement to accept Mr. Olson's resignation. 2) There is no additional <br />funding requirement to appoint Chief Kapler to an interim assignment for up to a 3-month period to oversee the <br />Public Works Building Maintenance, Parks, Streets, and Utilities divisions. 3) *There is no additional funding <br />requirement at this time to appoint City Engineer Himmer to oversee the Engineering Division on an ongoing <br />
