Councilmember Tossey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #12 -03 -030 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING ZOLA MALAMEN FOR HER YEARS OF VOLUNTARY SERVICE WHEREAS, Zola Malamen has resigned from her volunteer position as President of the Ramsey Seniors Club; and WHEREAS, Ms. Malamen served the Ramsey Seniors Club for 24 years, beginning with her election as President in 1988; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey Seniors Club has grown from 22 people at its inception in 1984 to its current membership of 72 people; and WHEREAS, over the years, Ms. Malamen was active in other aspects of the community, which included serving as a leader for the Ramsey 4 -H group - the Cheerful Chuggers; and WHEREAS, Ms. Malamen has also been very active working with the Ramsey Lions Club on senior issues, volunteering at the Nowthen Threshing Show and serving food at Lions Club Events, which has earned her the Helen Keller Award for Service from the Lions; and WHEREAS, the Ramsey City Council would like to show their appreciation to Zola Malamen for her years of service and contribution to our community by adopting this resolution recognizing, commending and thanking Ms. Malamen. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey hereby publicly recognizes, thanks and commends Zola Malamen for her years of service to groups within the City of Ramsey, most notably her 24 years serving as President of the Ramsey Seniors Club. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Backous, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Ramsey Councilmember Tossey Councilmember Backous Councilmember Elvig Councilmember McGlone Councilmember Strommen Councilmember Wise
