CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey City Council conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, March 27, 1990 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota regarding the renaming of 138th Avenue N.W., Front Street N.W. and Riverdale Road N.W. to Riverdale Drive N.W. Members Present: Mayor Gary Reimann Councilmember Richard Cich Councilmember Stephen F. DeLuca Councilmember Alan Pearson Councilmember Kenneth Peterson Also Present: City Administrator David Hartley City Engineer Peter Raatikka Finance Officer Sandra Ashley Community Development Director Mark Banwart CALL TO ORDER Mayor Reimann called the public hearing to order at 7:43 p.m. CITIZEN INPUT Haakon Jarnes- 7807 142nd Avenue N.W. - Mr. James feels that since Riverdale runs in an East/SVest direction, it should be an Avenue as it is written on the street signs and sees no reason to change the name as it is on the street sign. Mayor Reimann commented that the various names would be all the same if it was renamed. City Council noted receipt of a letter from Jan Dubats of Anoka Self Storage at 6802 - 138th Avenue N.W. urging the City of Ramsey to revert to the name Front Street Bill Dubats of Anoka Self Storage - 6802 138th Avenue N.W. - Mr. Dubats was present to state that he also believes that the name Riverdale Drive would be confusing in light of the planned Riverdale Shopping Center in Coon Rapids with a perimeter drive that would also be called Riverdale Drive. He feels that the name Front Street is more descriptive. Winslow Holasek - 1159 Andover Blvd., Andover, MN- Stated that he is a property owner in the area. He prefers the name Riverdale Drive. Ed Hamilton - 6615 Highway #10 N.W. - Mr. Hamilton would like to see the name Riverdale Drive used. City Council Public Heating / March 27, 1990 Page 1 of 2
