(2) The enclosure shall remain completely enclosed to prevent unwanted intrusion by outside animals and <br />migratory birds. <br />(3) A confined exercise area must be provided for the animals. The exercise area shall be fenced off to <br />prevent the animals from roaming at large. <br />(3). Manure shall not be permitted to accumulate on the property. Manure shall be removed at least once (1) <br />per week, but while on the property shall be properly stored. <br />(h) Setbacks. All enclosures must maintain a minimum setback of ten (10) feet from all property lines and must <br />maintain a minimum setback of thirty (30) feet from all adjacent inhabited structures. <br />(1) If 100% opaque fencing (privacy fencing) is utilized for the exercise area, said fencing is subject to the <br />standard fence regulations and setbacks within City Code Chapter 117. If alternative fencing is used (for example, <br />chain link fencing), then said fencing shall be no closer than ten (10) feet to a property line. <br />(i) Prohibition of nuisance animals. No animals of any type may be maintained on any parcel within the city, no <br />matter what size the parcel, if the maintenance of said animals creates a nuisance as defined in chapter 30. <br />SECTION 2. PURPOSE <br />The purpose of this amendment is to reduce the minimum lot size required to maintain chickens on a property as <br />well as to include provisions to consider beekeeping through the issuance of a conditional use permit. <br />SECTION 3. SUMMARY <br />The following official summary of Ordinance #12-06 has been approved by the City Council of the City of Ramsey <br />as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the Ordinance. <br />It is the intent and effect of Ordinance #12 -06 to reduce the minimum lot size required to maintain chickens on a <br />property and to allow for beekeeping with certain safety provisions through the issuance of a conditional use permit. <br />SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE <br />The effective date of this ordinance is thirty (30) days after its passage and publication, subject to City Charter <br />Section 3.9. <br />Passed by the Ramsey City Council this the 12 day of June, 2012. <br />f°1 <br />GG <br />Mayor <br />
