Memo

To: Ramsey Housing Committee

From: Amy Geisler

Date: 10/31/03

Re: Staff update

Rental Licensing Ordinance - Implementation. Staff is in the process of implementing the
Rental Licensing ordinance approved by Council last summer. While there are still some
details to work out on how the inspections will be conducted, it's hoped that the licenses will
be on a December consent agenda for Council approval.

Sunftsh Lake RFI. The City Council discussed the Park and Recreation Commission's
proposal for concept planning on the Sunfish Lake site at their October 28, 2003. Based on
Council discussion at the meeting, staff will be revising the project and bringing it back at a
future date.

Outdoor Storage - Fence Issues. Several Councilmembers have raised concerns about
current provisions in City Code for outdoor storage and fences. Community Development
staff has been researching how both issues are handled in other cities and will be presenting a
report to the City Council in the near future.

2003 Anoka County First-Time Homebuyer Program - Update. Attached is a letter from
Anoka County with updated information on the status of the 2003 First-Time Homebuyer
Program.

Future meetings. As we are wrapping up our discussion of architectural standards, staff is
looking for some input on what kinds of topics the Housing Committee would like to pursue
next.

20
