4We are excited to want to introduce a new column in the Ramsey Resident brought to you by
Ramsey's the Citv's Environmental Policy Board (EPB).
First, a little bit about the EPB. We are a group of seven typical Ramsey citizens. Like you, we
live, play, relax, and invest in our community. We arc cducators, entrepreneurs, chcmists,
consultants and retirees. We meet the first Monday of each Month at 6:30 p.m. at the Ramsey
Municipal Center City Hall in the Mississippi River Room.
Our charge is to recommend to the City Council such policies, plans or projects which that will
enhance and preserve Ramsey's natural environment — including air, soil, water and vegetation.
Our work plan includes improving community awareness through such means as the annual
Environmental Expo; demonstration projects including a rain garden and a prairie
restoration/establishment: public communication; and coordination with the Lower Rum River
Water Management Organization.
While we are an advisory board that reports to the City Council, ultimately we also report to
you our neighbors, friends and colleagues. Our meetings always begin with citizen input. We
welcome your ideas and perspectives, feedback and criticisms. Our point of contact at City Hall
is Associate Planner/Environmental Coordinator Chris Anderson and he can be reached by
phone at -(763)433-9905 or by email at candersonPci.ramsev.mn.us.
Now, a little bit about this column. Our intent is to develop an icon/logo that is used in the
newsletter, on the website, and other various forms of communication so that one can quickly
and easily recognize that the general content is related to the environment. Each column will
focus on a natural resources topic relevant to Ramsey. We want to keep vou informed and up
to date on Ramsev's natural environment, while also highlighting ways for vou to become
involved with the community, and hope to do so through this column. 'Something about our
logo/icon goes here. Chris, have you h and anything from Larry?› The information found in
this column will also be available through the Citv's website at www.citvoframsev.com.
The EPB looks for to working with vou and for vou. If vou have specific concerns related to
natural resources or would like additional information on a particular topic related to natural
resources, please contact the Citv's Associate Planner/Environmental Coordinator vou consider
attending one of our monthly EPB meetings.
Our intent is to provide timely information abi7 Rai-c 'c .2fra .J. environment. It will include
facts about our nr:i hama:, residents, tips for preserving 1:- na'ziral resources, and ways for
you to become involved. Thcrc will always be additional information as well as an
environmental archive on the City's website www.ci.ramsev.mn.us.
We look forward to working with you and for you.
Formatted: Font color: Auto
