CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 08/28/2012 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative Services <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Report from the Personnel Committee - Meeting Date: August 14, 2012 <br />Background: <br />Case 1: Consider a Resolution to Hire a Police Technician <br />Case 2: Consider a Resolution to Authorize a Patrol Officer Recruitment <br />4. 15. <br />Case 3: Consider a Resolution to Re -authorize a Leave of Absence (Portions of the meeting were closed to the <br />public) <br />Notification: <br />Observations: <br />Recommendation: <br />Case 1: The Personnel Committee recommended approval of resolution #12-08-XXX, to Hire Ms. Jennifer Johnson <br />as the City's new part-time Police Technician at step 1 of the wage scale (i.e. $17.57 per hour) effective August 29, <br />2012. <br />Case 2: The Personnel Committee recommended approval of resolution #12-08-XXX, to authorize staff to begin a <br />Patrol Officer recruitment. <br />Case 3: The Personnel Committee recommended approval of resolution 12-08-XXX, to re -authorize a City <br />employee's leave of absence for four months (Sept, Oct, Nov, & Dec.). If additional leave is required beyond <br />December the Committee will re -address the issue. <br />Funding Source: <br />Case 1: The funding required for the part-time Police Technician position is estimated to be $25,900 annually. <br />Case 2: The funding required for a new Patrol Officer position is estimated to be $65,488 to $72,292 annually. <br />Case 3: There is no funding required to re -authorize a City employee's leave of absence for four months. <br />Council Action: <br />Case 1: Motion to approve resolution # 12-08-XXX, which upon City Council approval, will authorize the hire of <br />Ms. Jennifer Johnson as the City's new part-time Police Technician, at step 1 of the wage scale (i.e. $17.57 per <br />hour) effective August 29, 2012. <br />Case 2: Motion to approve resolution # 12-08-XXX, which upon City Council approval, will authorize staff to <br />begin a Patrol Officer recruitment. <br />Case 3: Motion to approve resolution # 12-08-XXX, which upon City Council approval, will re -authorize a City <br />employee's leave of absence for four months (Sept, Oct, Nov, & Dec.). <br />
