CC Regular Session 4. 3.
Meeting Date: 07/24/2012
By: Len Linton, Engineering/Public Works
Information
Title:
Receive plans and specifications and authorization to bid City Project #12-23; SAP 199-107-009 Alpine Drive
Reconstruction
Background:
Staff presented the outline for the Alpine Drive overlay project to the City Council in March 2011. Due to funding
constraints, pavement condition along the extents of the roadway, and the pending Anoka County signalization
project it was decided to break the project into two segments. The first segment from Ramsey Boulevard to the skate
park was constructed in 2011.
The second segment from the skate park to Sunfish Lake Boulevard was discussed at the March 2012 Public Works
Committee meeting. Alternative paving technologies and trail options were discussed. The Committee
recommended to City Council that the alternative paving technologies not be used on this segment and that trail
segment one be included as an add alternate to the contract.
Staff has prepared plans and specifications for the reconstruction of Alpine Drive from the skate park to Sunfish
Lake Boulevard with the construction of trail segment one from Hematite Street to the skate park as an add
alternate.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval from the City Council to advertise the project for bids. Once bids are secured we will
be coming back to the Council for authorization to award a contract.
Funding Source:
The Alpine Drive reconstruction will be funded from the MSA account. The trail segment may be funded with
MSA dollars, another funding source or construction may be delayed.
Council Action:
Motion to receive plans and specifications and authorize advertisement for bids on City Project #12-23; SAP
199-107-009 Alpine Drive Reconstruction.
Form Review
Inbox Reviewed By Date
Kurt Ulrich Kurt Ulrich 07/18/2012 11:32 PM
Form Started By: Len Linton Started On: 07/18/2012 09:40 AM
Final Approval Date: 07/18/2012
