Councilmember Backous introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #12 -07 -103 <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BOARD IN THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute Section 203B.121 requires the governing body of each <br />county with responsibility to accept and reject absentee ballots to establish a ballot board; and <br />WHEREAS, the ballot board must consist of a sufficient number of election judges and <br />staff members trained in the handling of absentee ballots; and <br />WHEREAS, the duties of the ballot board are as specified in Minnesota Statutes <br />Chapter 203B; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That membership of and appointment to the Absentee Ballot Board shall be based <br />upon requirements contained in Minnesota Statutes Chapter 203B and additional <br />requirements established by the Anoka County Auditor for elections. <br />2) That the Ramsey City Council hereby adopts this resolution authorizing and <br />establishing an Absentee Ballot Board for the City of Ramsey. <br />3) That the City Clerk and her designee are authorized to serve on the Board. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Elvig and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Backous <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Strommen <br />Councilmember Tossey <br />Councilmember Wise <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />None <br />and the following abstained: <br />None <br />
