Excellent performers will work their way to <br />the top of their pay range; poor performers will not progress and may even end <br />up in the lower limits of their range. A major portion of this comparable <br />worth would have to be negotiated into the contract, it could be instituted in <br />coordination with the comparable worth program. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schlueter stated that she feels Mr. Hartley has a good handle on <br />things and she stands behind the contract that has been put together. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca stated that he is in favor of performance standards; good <br />and poor performers should be treated accordingly. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sorteberg had no comment. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that he thinks Council should stand behind the <br />contract. He is disappointed in the employees in that they do not recognize <br />the fact that they can probably do better than they are. He doesn't think the <br />employees realized what they were doing when they gave somebody else the <br />opportunity to speak for them and be their exclusive negotiator. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to adjourn <br />the closed executive session. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />Schlueter and DeLuca.
