Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION # CONSIDER A RESOLUTION TO HIRE PAID -ON -CALL FIREFIGHTERS WHEREAS, the City Council authorized staff to begin a recruitment process for paid -on - call firefighters; and WHEREAS, a firefighter orientation meeting was held on July 9, 2012, followed by interviews, background checks, physical agility tests, work -style assessments, and pre -employment examinations; and WHEREAS, five candidates have successfully passed the requirements to become a city of Ramsey Firefighter; and WHEREAS, all five candidates will be subject to a 1-year probationary period and the terms of the Personnel Policy. WHEREAS, funding for these positions are part of the approved General Fund Budget. Per the Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Nowthen, the City of Ramsey will be reimbursed for a portion of the salaries for these positions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, Motions to approve resolution # 12-09-XXX, confirming the recommendation of the Personnel Committee, to hire Jeff Erickson, Alex Merritt, Mike Nelson, Adam Schrag, and Scott Widstrom as Paid -on -call Firefighters at $12.88 per hour effective September 26, 2012. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member, , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 25th day of September 2012.
