RESOLUTION XX-XX-XXXX RESOLUTION TO COMMITT TO APPLICATION FOR GRANT OPPORTUNITY FOR SHARED FIRE SERVICES WHEREAS, the Shared Fire Service Study Group has held scheduled meetings on a regular basis since October of 2011; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey had the following members participate in the Shared Fire Service Study Group; Councilmember Sarah Strommen, Fire Chief Dean Kapler, City Administrator Kurt Ulrich and Firefighter Shane Swedeen, and WHEREAS, the Shared Fire Service Study Group remains committed to continuing efforts to research the possibility of some form of shared services; and WHEREAS, a grant opportunity through the State Fire Marshal's office in the amount of $25,000-$40,000 has become available for application; and WHEREAS, successful parties receiving the grant will be required to match approximately 10% of the grant proceeds; and WHEREAS, using a population weighting formula, with the $25,000 minimum and $40,000 maximum benefit examples, the city of Ramsey, if successful, would be required to pay $1350 to $2160. Other cities share as follows: Oak Grove $450/$720, St Francis $400/$640, Nowthen $250/$400, Bethel $25-$40. NOW THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA; as follows: The City of Ramsey hereby supports the continued effort of looking towards some form of a Shared Fire Service with the other interested communities and agrees to enter into an application with the State Fire Marshal's Office grant opportunity. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was made by Councilmember XXXX, and was duly seconded by Councilmember XXXX and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this 23 day of October 2012.
