present starting pay rate and that City Staff continue to research the average starting pay rate for <br />patrol officers in the surrounding communities. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley noted that City Council is obligated to taking action only on labor related matters at <br />closed executive sessions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson withdrew his motion. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann and Councilmembers DeLuca and Pearson were in favor of negotiating to reduce <br />the beginning pay rate for patrol officers in Ramsey to $23,900 and increasing the time period to <br />top patrol to 4 years. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Cich and Peterson agreed with the 4 year step program but disagreed to a <br />reduction in beginning pay rate for officers. <br /> <br />Mr. Auspos noted that the majority consensus of the Council regarding beginning pay rate and <br />years to top patrol does not vary much from what he suggested in September of 1988 and that was <br />rejected. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Pearson and seconded by Councilmember Cich to adjourn the closed <br />executive session. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers DeLuca, Pearson, Peterson and <br />Cich.
