Economic Development Authority (EDA) 4. 3.
Meeting Date: 11/08/2012
Submitted For: Patrick Brama By: Patrick Brama, Administrative Services
Title:
15153 Nowthen BLVD, Old City Hall Site, Development Planning Update
Background:
Per EDA direction, staff is working to get the old municipal center site "Shovel Ready Certified" through the State
of Minnesota; with the ultimate goal of attracting a data center(s). Additionally, staff is working to create
development scenario sketch plans; to be used for analytical purposes. Staff has begun investigating what zoning
options the City should consider for the subject property. Finally, staff is still working with prospect Delta
regarding the Subject Property.
The purpose of this case is to update the EDA on all items mentioned above.
Observations:
The Subject Property is three separate parcels, covering just over 20 acres. See attached profile for detailed
information. Currently, the City houses their second fire station in one of the two existing buildings located on the
Subject Property.
In summary, the "Shovel Ready" certification gets a number of documents, licenses and surveys in order before a
developer steps forward. This makes a Ramsey site more competitive with other available sites. Additionally, the
certified sites are marketed by the State of Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development
(DEED) at a national level.
Funding Source:
EDA Fund
Staff Recommendation:
NA, update item.
EDA Action:
NA, update item.
Attachments
Subject Property Profile
Data Center Vs Residential Development
Form Review
Inbox Reviewed By Date
Kurt Ulrich Kurt Ulrich 11/01/2012 09:43 AM
Form Started By: Patrick Brama Started On: 10/30/2012
Final Approval Date: 11/01/2012
