Economic Development Authority (EDA) 4. 7.
Meeting Date: 11/08/2012
Submitted For: Patrick Brama By: Kurt Ulrich, Administrative Services
Title:
2013 EDA Work Plan
Background:
At the October EDA meeting, Staff was asked to bring forward the 2013 EDA work plan for discussion.
Additionally, Staff was asked to put together a time line and cost for each item outlined in the work plan.
Upon review and research of this manner, Staff recommends the EDA first decide how they would like to engage in
the development of their work plan moving forward:
(1) Is the correct timing now, or is appropriate to wait until January?
(2) Is the EDA satisfied with their current work plan process, or would they be interested in a
more structured strategic planning process?
For example, reviewing the EDA vision, then develop a mission statement and subsequently develop specific
goals/strategies/tactics to achieve the vision and mission. The purpose of the process is to insure all specific
goals/objectives are tied to the mission and vision. Attached to this case is an example strategic planning process.
Attached is a visual example.
If the EDA is not interested in a strategic planning process and would like to use the work plan format used in
previous years, included in the case is the 2012 work plan (updated). Staff is ready to make amendments as desired
by the EDA. Additionally, the Staff can bring back more information on the work plan at the December
EDA meeting.
Observations:
NA
Funding Source:
NA
Staff Recommendation:
Direct Staff on how the EDA would like to move forward with the EDA work plan and/or strategic planning
process.
EDA Action:
Direct Staff on how the EDA would like to move forward with the EDA work plan and/or strategic planning
process.
Attachments
EDA Budget Detail and Summary
Strategic Planning Process Example
2012 Workplan
